I am directed by the Secretary of State for Air to refer to Colonial Office letter of the 2nd April,

(2) No. 53576/35 regarding the payment by the Hong Kong

Government of an annual subsidy in respect of the Empire Air Mail Scheme.

2.

I am to request you to inform the Secretary of State for the Colonies that Lord Londonderry does not wish to press for the exemption from assessment for Military Contribution of the revenue required in Hong Kong to meet the cost of participation in the scheme and he concurs in the inclusion of the Colony in the scheme on the basis of the subsidy proposed in the Colonial Office letter under reply.

3. Copies of this letter are being sent to the Treasury and the War Office.
